HOME TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT TIGHTENING TORQUE

TIGHTENING TORQUE

It is necessary to observe thoroughly the specified tightening torque for installation of the spark plug in the engine. As a result of downsizing the specified tightening torque is lower and lower. It is always necessary to use a torque wrench.

LJK TIP

LJK provides a table containing the recommended tightening torque in most of the commercial and technical documents.

THE TIGHTENING TORQUE MUST CORRESPOND TO THE PRESCRIBED VALUES

USE A TORQUE WRENCH TO INSTALL THE SPARK PLUGS

ASSEMBLY – TIGHTENING TORQUE

CONSEQUENCES OF EXCEEDING THE TIGHTENING TORQUE

Exceeding the recommended tightening torque when mounting the spark on the engine will stretch the casing in the recess of the thread and thereby damaging the heat transfer from the tip of the insulator through the seal ring into the shell and the cylinder head. Then, the insulator nose is overheated, which results in ignition advance in the combustion chamber. The high temperature in the combustion chamber as a result of premature ignition of the fuel mixture can damage the spark plug and can seriously damage the engine.

LJK TIP

LJK makes the spark plug shells using cold moulding technologies. Uninterrupted flow of the material fibres increases the shells resistance to overturning by tens of percent compared to the classical method of lathing.
